Urmston is the smallest town within the Traford borough with a welcoming and pleasant village style ambience. Historically in Lancashire, it is about six miles (10 km) southwest of Manchester city centre. The River Mersey provides a boundry to the south, with Stretford lying to the east and Flixton to the west. Davyhulme lies to the north of the town centre. Urmston is popular and one of the major urban areas in Trafford; it includes the areas of Davyhulme and Flixton.
